A non-emotive post that sounds like one.

Today's post is a non-emotive post that sounds like one. Yesterday as I was about to go to bed, a random thought struck me in my head. I suddenly think about how my parents, being young once, had their own set of dreams and goals that they wanted to pursue. I am 21 for quite some time now. I have my own set of directions to go, where I want to move. I have my own dreams, interests to follow and although I do not have a concrete plan for my future, at least I know what I want now, currently. So I try to navigate myself towards these goals that I have set out for myself. I am very sure that my parents similarly had their own goals that they were moving towards to when they were 21. The kind of lifestyle they wanted to lead, what they wanted to do for a living and so on. So, (my own postulation) they were more or less on their individual paths until they met each other and decided to settle down. Suddenly, all their own visions and dreams sort of melted away to give in to th...

Relationships

Relationships The older I get, the more I realise that relationships play a huge huge role in our lives. Romantically wise, platonic or family wise, we all need a fair share of all three I suppose. Suddenly people left right center behind and sideways break up, patch up, found someone to attach themselves to. Some friendship sours, some drifts, new ones forged and others strengthen. Many others remained in an awkward limbo. Priorities (I seriously can never learn how to spell this word) seems to change with age. At teenage years, the thing you probably cared most in the world was probably whether you had friends that you could relate closely to. A little further down the road, you probably have a group of people who you know will definitely be there for you no matter what happens. Then you probably might be on the look out for potential mates. And so on and so forth. Been hearing some stuffs in the recent weeks. Have to say I was pretty disappointed. But yet at th...

The Art of Making Friends, and the a certain extent, keeping them.

The Art of making Friends. ( and perhaps how to maintain the relationship ) University opens a whole new world, new, foreign people ambush you almost everyday. You either meet them at lectures, tutorials, or perhaps lab sessions or practicals. Possibly, the most polite or socially correct thing to do is then to make an attempt, feeble or not, entirely depends on your mood, for a small talk. From there and then on, you might become best buddies, or just normal friends. Depends entirely on your chemistry with the person. Sometimes I feel that it is really chemistry that brings people together. That first impression that person sends you, when you guys talk, if it feels "right". If that person belongs on the same wave length as you do. Some people while being unbelievably nice, like I have met, just dont function on the same frequency as I do. Awkward silences push their way through us, filling up the voids. Bringing uneasiness. Others, when met for the time, click i...

Conversion to Introversion 1101E

Mid June : Temperature creeps steadily up End June : Humidity levels rises around the island, skin feels oddly sticky all the time Start July : Its starting to burn Now : Unbelievably, blisteringly hot Which also signifies one thing - University's finally starting for some of us who have waited for almost 3 years. That thought alone is, undoubtedly scary. Almost 3 years of not processing thoughts in a logical, sequential way. Of not looking at problems in another angle, thinking about possibilities of solving the targeted problem. Of not feeling the stress of exams. Of not churning out essays after essays on demand. Of not practising hand writing. It also marks a total character change for the some of us. Like myself. I suddenly feel less prone to mingle around, the intuition to get to know more people lessens. There is not a compelling urge to get to understand new people on a deeper, more personal basis within me. Knowing new people has become sort of a chore for me. To quote a f...

I still had some army credits leftover, not wanting to waste it, I went to buy a new pair of cool yellow streaked mizunos from e-mart! Best ORD buy ever. Men's Health Urbanathlon. Who knew these bastards, after using all the flowery language and their incessant persuading to make me join, pulled out without even telling me. No replies to my smses or facebook msges. I was livid. And could do nothing. I already paid for it. Might as well train and run for it. It wasnt cheap by the way.

Planning your alternate life?

Here's an interesting question I have. If you can re-plan your life, if you can re-live it, with all possible resources given, financially or not. How would you choose to live it? What job would you have? Where would you live? What would you do in your spare time? I often make these little plans at the back of my head when I have nothing to do. Like on a hot night where I cannot seem to get to sleep no matter what position I adopt. On my tummy, on my side, kneeling, various exotic poses. So I think about all these plans I have. Drawing them out in my head, down to the minute details. Who knows? Maybe it will come true? So here's roughly how my "alternate" life goes. 1) I will want to open a restaurant/eatery/bistro in the sea. Like a glass house eatery that has a wooden boardwalk that extends from the beach to the sea. Its glass everywhere, from walls to the ceilings to the flooring. 2) It will have an indoor and outdoor dining option. Outdoor: From the glass hut, yo...
