So often during runs, races, marathons and so on, we see people dashing in towards the finishing line, panting from exhaustion, perspiration drenched.
What strikes me the most during a run with friend T, was that why most people only choose to run in only upon reaching the finishing line?
You can see the amount of effort clearly on their faces, some elated or relieved that the run has finally finished, others plain tired, gasping and wheezing with much effort.
I finished with friend T with a light jog, breezing through the finishing line. And this sudden thought came upon me.
Coming in leisurely allows one (or at least me) to consolidate the emotions felt during the run.
Perhaps you felt indignant that you got overtaken by someone you did not like, or you spotted some hot girl trying to make a pass at you.
It allows you to reflect back on the run.
Maybe you should have put in extra effort in the first 10 km so that your overall timing would have been better.
Perhaps you should have worn a pair of tights underneath those running pants to prevent the painful abrasion you are suffering now.
It allows you to remember little details that make the run enjoyable, making the venue of the run worth returning.
Maybe the bananas given were especially sweet, or the 100plus tasted cooler and fizzer.
Perhaps random strangers cheered you on when you were half way through the run, spurring you on, giving you confidence.
Or in my case, I want to remember the long sea view where at the farthest end of the sea, it seems to join the sky forming a never ending line.
And then with a light heart, you finish, crossing the finishing line with much confidence, not too tired from madly rushing towards it, but with a healthy jog, rosy cheeks and you can remember the run for a long time.
Perhaps in life, this should have been the attitude to adopt?
To not hastily decide upon matters, or complete tasks for the sake of completion.
To take pride in process and not outcome.

On a completely separate note, this week is definitely not my week.
I feel utterly wretched, cursed beyond the depths of hell.
Damn those people who had a part in making my week foul.

And thanks to S, this song's been on replay in my head!
Bizzare but catchy!
